wimber's 3 m's

John Wimber often taught of the three M's - The Message, the Model and the Milieu. There are times when the Model has to change because the landscape (or Milieu) is changing. But the Message on the other hand never changes. It remains fresh in all contexts. If not, you have the wrong message.

In relation to that however, the Bible is the menu, not the meal. We don't worship the Scriptures - we worship the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

But again, we should never alter the Message. The Bible does not change. We must not deviate from Scripture and follow the latest fads.

Wimber said, "If you study church history you will see that there is no new truths, just old error." He would teach us that the Vineyard "must break through the walls of the church out into the streets and the marketplace, preaching Jesus and His good News, accompanied by the Holy Spirit." He saw the Father "reaching out His hand to heal and perform miracles" but that our message must not ever change from the Good News to the signs. The message is Jesus Christ in His fullness.

Wimber wrote:
The person of Jesus Christ is the heart and apex of God's revelation. He is the Word who has come in the flesh, and only those who acknowledge him as such can be saved. ... Do you want to know the heavenly Father? Then look at His Son, Jesus Christ, because He came to reveal His Father's nature to us.
