1) Frivolous lawsuits are the American get-rich-quick scheme. Hilarity ensues as long as you're not the sucker being sued.
2) WorldNetDaily blew their credibility with me years ago. This sounds like a natural for the type of hysterical Christian over-reaction usually associated with Christian Urban Legends.
3) Both the above are symptoms of a society that has beaten the survival game and can afford the trivial pursuits and trivial passions of the idle rich.

Maybe. But perhaps you're reading a lot into this that isn't there.
I've seen other news feeds pick this up, including the Wall Street Journal. I don't see the WSJ as hysterical.
Perhaps seeing this as symptoms of a decadent society is itself a symptom of idleness?
