living passionately

David Ruis writes on living passionately.
Look at the great historical example of Mozart and his counterpart, Antonio Salieri, in the movie, Amadeus. I know it’s a bit Hollywood, but here you have Mozart. He had technical ability, but what brought him to impact the popular culture of his day was his passion. Salieri, who some historians say was technically superior to Mozart, was uptight, stressed, competitive, and was so consumed by technical excellence that his zest for life and passion didn't fill his music. Which one of these men do we know about today? We know about Mozart.

It's also a bit of Hollywood, but maybe some truth comes out in that Mozart's music was an outpouring of Mozart's passion and ability. Salieri comes across as a student or technician who can duplicate something, but who can't really create something.

Mozart is the artist who creates from himself something that didn't exist before.

It's probably all Hollywood, of course. Perhaps Mozart wasn't as flighty & mad as portrayed; perhaps Salieri was really quite creative and inspiring.
